Just in case any of you are interested. So as you may or may not know, I'm taking a 3D modeling class for school. Today, the TA gave us a quick demonstration on this program called Sculptris, and it's crazy addictive and completely free. So if any of you have wanted to dabble in the realm of 3D modeling but are put off by the insane difficulty curve, Sculptris is pretty awesome.

The program is designed to act like sculpting from a ball of clay, rather than mess around with vertices and all those really hard to learn things. Unfortunately, due to the insane polygon count the program generates, it's impossible to do anything more than a head (or something vaguely roundish) straight out of the box, but if you were so inclined you can import rough models from programs like Blender (exporting them requires you to buy its parent program though.)

Anyway, just figured I'd pass on this knowledge.

Hey, quick question- about how many frames should be used on a sprite to animate a shark-like tail swishing back and forth?

Hm, for a smooth animation, I'd put at least two frames between mid and fully swung to the side. So that would be seven frames for a full swing.

Unfortunately my image editing program isn't working right now, so I can't get an up close look at it. Due to the patterns, it's hard to see the shading on the night sprite. The shading on the wings gives it a good texture, but because the texture is even throughout the wings, the whole thing looks flat. Admittedly I haven't studied the Dragon Cave style too closely, but the outline on the night sprite looks a bit too dark for me, but that could just be an opinion thing. Also, the outline on the wings looks jagged. Like I said, I can't get a zoomed in look right now, but if it looks smooth zoomed in, then this could be an illusion due to the patterns on the wings. (There's a bit of this on the tail as well.) Speaking of the tail, the mid section looks too straight. And finally, there's a few pixels of black outline on the inside of the wing that stick out.

Nice. I'm still working on it. I think I underestimated how hard "Hard" mode was... Love it though!

How far are you at present?

I went with normal to start with, mostly because in the other FE games I've played, I always screwed myself over by the end. I really like how this one has a lot of chances to level, though I'm a bit disappointed that Sain isn't among the downloadable characters.

Three chapters before the end, though I've spent quite a bit of time leveling some of my weaker characters. I haven't been using downloadable characters, was disappointed when I saw that their models were just the default.
